Leading During Spiritual Conflict - part 2

Last week’s review:

1.  Spiritual conflict is a reality.

2.  We are equipped to fight spiritually

3.  The Lord is fully engaged in the battle for us

4.  We should expect to be victorious in spiritual conflict

Ephesians 6:10-13 NIV

10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Eph 6:11

11 in order that Satan might not outwit us. For we are not unaware of his schemes. 2 Cor 2:10

1.  Our thought life is a battlefield

We destroy arguments and every lofty opinion raised against the knowledge of God, and take every thought captive to obey Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:5 ESV

Satan’s Board Sword:

Doubt

  • Questions are not doubt

Temptation and Accusation

  • Temptation and Accusation play off of each other.

14 but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. 15 Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. James 1:14-15 NIV

10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "Now have come the salvation and the power and the kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers, who accuses them before our God day and night, has been hurled down.  Rev 12:10 NIV84

13 No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it. 1 Cor 10:13

Discouragement

  • Why do we get discouraged?

  1. The battle lasts our entire life

  2.   We get tired

" Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up." (Luke 18:1, NIV)

"Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." (Galatians 6:9, NIV)
