Unity - part 2
1. Moses and Aaron
Exodus 4:22-23
22 Then say to Pharaoh, 'This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son 23 and I told you, "Let my son go, so he may worship me." But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.' "
Let my people go to worship me.
Vision Gives Direction and makes unity possible
Aaron’s response resulted in three things happening.
Misdirected Actions
Exodus 32:1 (NIV) 1 When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.”
Misdirected Faith
Exodus 32:4 (NIV) 4He took what they handed him and made it into an idol cast in the shape of a calf, fashioning it with a tool. Then they said, “These are your gods, O Israel, who brought you up out of Egypt.”
Misdirected Values
Exodus 32:5 (NIV) 5When Aaron saw this, he built an altar in front of the calf and announced, “Tomorrow there will be a festival to the Lord.”
